Find Your Support

Why Choose an Affirming Therapist?

Choosing a therapist who understands, respects, and CELEBRATES your identity is crucial. Affirming therapists provide:

  • Safe, nonjudgmental spaces to explore your experiences

  • Culturally competent care grounded in real knowledge, not assumptions

  • Support for navigating discrimination, dysphoria, family dynamics, and more

  • Celebration of your joy, resilience, and power

🌈 You deserve care that sees you, hears you, and honors all of who you are.

Affirming Therapist Network

At the Queer Therapy Collective, we believe everyone deserves compassionate, knowledgeable, and affirming care. Our network of queer and trans-affirming therapists is here to support you wherever you are on your journey. These are folks who either share these identities or who have shown theirselves to be “doing the work” to understand, support, and advocate for queer and trans communities.

Queer and Trans Therapist Affinity Group

Being queer or trans comes with daily challenges, especially in our current social climate. And holding emotional space for others on top of that?! We can all use a little extra community and support.

Starting in August 2025, TableTalk will be hosting a monthly consultation group for queer and trans therapists. We will meet in-person at a rotating spot in the Greater Grand Rapids area.

Meeting times: 2nd Friday of every month, 10am

***This group is only for folks who identify as queer or trans, and are working in or studying to be part of the therapy profession. If you are looking for other queer and trans related affinity groups, please check out the many groups available through GR Pride Center (link here).

Specialties: Adults. Individuals & Couples.

Location: Virtual (Michigan) & In-person (Grand Rapids)

Insurance: BCBS, Priority Health, Medicaid

About: I’m a therapist who’s certified in a somatics-based mindfulness method and also has training in IFS, polyvagal theory, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. I bring a trauma-informed approach that looks at how our personal experiences connect with oppressive systems like racism, sexism, transphobia, and anti-fat bias. I often work with neurodiverse folks, members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and people who’ve experienced trauma. I focus on helping clients cultivate more self-compassion, understand their nervous systems better, feel more connected to themselves and more grounded in their bodies. My style is warm, collaborative, and rooted in curiosity and care.

Erika Crenshaw

Specialties: Teens & Adults. Individuals, Couples, Groups.
Trauma, Codependency, Stress

Location: Virtual (Michigan) & In-person (Grand Rapids)

Insurance: BCBS, BCN, Priority Health

About: Safety. Trust. Control. Esteem. Intimacy. These are the five basic, human needs that get disrupted by trauma and stress. And not getting these needs met in our lives and relationships makes life a lot more work. I want to help you make space for yourself to identify your needs. I bring a trauma informed and trauma focused lens and we will work together to help you build connections with yourself and others.

Trauma happens in relationship; so does recovery. I have a lot of training and experience in helping folks understand how they have been changed by life experiences. We can work together to find a good fit for you, whether it’s focusing on changing your thoughts, understanding your feelings better, or addressing how your body reacts and responds.
